Zero Christmas Tree

Last night Sven saw a wreath and called it a "zero Christmas Tree."

Stinky Sea Alemony

After watching "Finding Nemo" a few times, Sven told me that he lived in the "stinky part of a sea alemony."

This weekend, while we were eating breakfast Sven said "Mommy, don't eat a classic dinner. It will make you unhappy." As I tried to puzzle out the meaning of this warning, Sven picked up a plastic miniature french fry trinket that Erik had recently bought for him at Archie MacPhee's.

Darfa Bader

Toddler language is an endless stream of cute mispronounciations. Sven's favorite character these days is Darfa Bader the Black Astronaut. One of his favorite friends is "Fafaniel" (Nathaniel). His favorite food is "mashy 'tatoes."

Darfa, for short, has been part of our family for several months. He first entered our lives when we watched ANH. Sven understands that Darth Vader is scarey, but believes he is a "good guy." Darfa's favorite activity is to fight "those jelly fish" with his "light saver." Needless to say, we had to get him a red light saver and toddler-sized Darth Vader costume for Halloween.

For his birfday this week Darfa received a set of wheels from Uncle Sven -- a 3-wheeled scooter with Darth Vader's image on the front.

At one point Sven pretended to be the "baby Darfa Bader". I told him that baby Darfa Bader was named Anakin Skywalker. So now Darfa Bader is sometimes Pankanik Skywalk, if he is feeling like a little boy.

Welcome to my Mommy Blog

When my son was born, a friend recommended that I keep a "Mommy journal" to record milestones, cute sayings, etc. However, I found that I was often so tired at the end of the day, that I didn't have the energy to create meaningful journal entries. However, as my son keeps growing, his cute phrases and developmental milestones are passing by with no written record. So, I decided to start a Mommy Blog for myself and a few close friends that might be interested in the development of my son, Sven Michiya Namioka Nilsson. So, here it is. The first on-line journal entry.
